Description

Alea: An epithet found in Arcadia, as within the temple built by Aleus, there was a magnificent statue of the goddess Athena crafted by the renowned ancient sculptor Scopas. This splendid statue was stolen by the Roman Augustus, who, according to the accounts of the traveler Pausanias, transported it to Rome.
